Year 3 Stone Age workshop

During the workshop the children worked in small groups where they made black pigments using charcoal and fat to represent paints used during the stone age period. They covered a temporary shelter with material representing leather and handled replica artefacts. 

Children got to practise the skills necessary to start a fire, re-enact a hunt. They learnt how to make cordage bracelet and strung an animal bone bead onto it to take home. 

Year 4 Vikings workshop

Children learnt about thatching Viking roofs. They used straws, hammer and ropes to make the thatching.   They learnt how to write in Latin and design brooches on circular mental pieces with patterns. They played Viking board games and played Viking style connect four. Finally, they learnt how to use swords and shields.

They really had a fun day experiencing Prehistoric Britain...They learnt about the lifestyles and the skills for survival.
