Our Eid Barbecue!

On Sunday, Barnet Hill Academy hosted its first ever Eid barbecue which was enjoyed by all who attended! The support of all those involved, from the management side of things, to the food and games, was integral in the success of the event. Our sizzling barbecue was a big hit, and with archery, football competitions and arts and crafts, there was something at the event for everyone! All proceeds have gone towards funding our own school minibus, to improve our students' trip experiences. We thank everyone who was able to join us for the event, and we hope to have more such festivals in the future!

Year 1 - Drawing Landscapes

Our Year 1 students certainly appear to be budding landscapers as they imitated the famous British artist, Stephen Wiltshire. The class attempted at drawing various London landmarks from memory after clearly observing each image.

Reception - Trip to the Train Station

Who said your local train station can't be interesting? Our Reception students visited the Hendon train station where they were given a small tour by a member of staff! From seeing how tickets are printed, to watching trains rumble past on the tracks, our Reception class had a great time exploring and learning about overhead trains and how they operate, as well as how train journeys are planned!

Year 2 - Trip to Welsh Harp!

As part of their topic, 'Wriggle and Crawl', our Year 2 students visited Welsh Harp, a glorious reservoir with open water and other habitats for wetland birds and plants. The workshop at the site was specifically designed to link with their topic, and our students also took part in a pond-dipping exercise to discover the different species living in the watery habitat as well as going on a woodland hunt to spot different creatures in the forestry. And if that wasn't jam-packed enough, our students also had the opportunity to speak to a local beekeeper and learn about the different types of bees and the process of making honey!
