Year 6 - Heart Dissection
Our Year 6 students were enthralled upon learning the anatomy of a heart as they dissected one in the classroom! The hands-on approach allowed our students to see, touch and explore the organ, while also deepening their comprehension of biological systems!
Zoo Lab
Last week, our students were in for an exciting treat! BHA had its very first zoo lab! Each class was given a time slot where they were able to view and hold a variety of different animals including: snakes, cockroaches, tarantulas and more! They discovered the physical features of these species, as well as their optimum habitats and what their diet! It was a fantastic activity for each and every class - and for the teachers too!
A Successful Climb!
Our Cobbler team took part in another climb up the Cobbler mountain up in Scotland! This time, we were raising money for Barnet Hill Academy's own Peace and Wellness Garden! Through the funds raised by the climb (for which it isn't too late to donate; just visit our JustGiving page here: justgiving.com/team/Cobbler-Peace-Garden-Challenge), we aim to create an outdoor area in which our students can learn, relax, make friends, and learn about nature through growing plants and vegetables!
Student Council Elections!
Our students learned about democracy, teamwork and public speaking as candidates for student council presented their speeches in front of their classmates. Soon after, elections were held, the results for which will be posted soon!
