Year 6 - The Art of Story Structure!
The art of crafting an entertaining story involves multitude of different factors, including an exciting setting, a great cast of characters and a plot that will keep the readers turning the page! This week, our Year 6 students dipped their toes into studying the craft of storytelling, and their work included some notes about how to describe a fantastical setting - whether that's a leafy jungle, or the freezing mountains of the Alps!
Reception - Anna Hibiscus and Family Portraits!
Our Reception students have been reading 'Anna Hibiscus' by Atinuke, a beautifully-illustrated tale of family and friendship set in contemporary West Africa, and we had some of them draw their own family portraits! Our Reception class loved sharing their family portraits with us, linking the story of Anna's family to their own!
Our Student Council Elections!
We held our Student Council Elections today and our students had a great time voting for their chosen candidates after hearing very thorough and persuasive speeches! The secret ballot voting system allows are students to have a say in their pupil representatives, and makes the process of electing a new student council that much more fun! Stay tuned for next week's newsletter to find out who the our newest student council members are!
Year 2 - Snail and the Whale!
The Snail and the Whale is the beloved story by Julia Donaldson, following the story of a snail longing to see the world, and so hitches a lift on the tail of a whale. Together, they embark on amazing adventures with volcanoes and sharks and icebergs! Our Year 2 students have begun reading this story, and have been writing predictions about the ending!
