Reception - Trip to the Train Station!
Our EYFS classes have been looking at the importance of road safety this week - from zebra crossings and traffic lights, to learning all about how to cross the road safely, our youngest students have become pioneers of safe travelling this week. In addition to road safety, we've also been inspecting different modes of travel and our Reception class was thrilled to visit a train station this week. We watched trains trundle past, received an in-depth tour by the Station Master and even learned the fascinating process behind printing tickets and tapping Oyster cards.
Bike-riding Fun!
Riding bikes is a popular sport, and an important skill, but did you know that approximately 6.3 million people in the UK don't know how to ride a bike? That's 1 in 8 people! For such a coveted skill, the statistics aren't too promising ... but we wanted to give our students the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike in a safe and educational space, and we were delighted to welcome the talented trainers from Bikeability to work with some of our Year 3 and 4 students. In the span of two days, our cohort of students became bike-riding pros!
Year 2 - Trip to the RAF!
There's an abundance of knowledge to be learned at the RAF (Royal Air Force Museum), and a wealth of historical artefacts, clothing and more! Our Year 2 students dived into the history of Hendon rooted into the local landscape, and consulted maps, images, written sources and artefacts to investigate the impact that aviation companies had on the development of Hendon.
A Fun Fact:
Did you know that Colindale was actually known as Colin Dale, as it was initially fields which were then later used for an aerodrome!
Year 3 - Exploring at Welsh Harp
There's nothing our students like more than an interactive experiment, and our Year 3's trip to Welsh Harp provided them with a plethora of information and interactive workshops, in which they made their own volcanoes, investigated different types of rock, and explored the great outdoors! Here are some pictures from their trip!
